LAB RAT, ranked the 8th best escape room in the world (TERPECA, 2017), takes place in a laboratory where giant rats are doing experiments on human beings, specifically you! Ratkenstein, a doctoral student in the field of human intelligence, has tasked you with completing a series of tests. If you succeed, he can finally write his dissertation. If you fail, he’s going to put you and your friends in the old test-subject chipper!

FAQ
This FAQ applies only to Lab Rat. Please find a general Hatch FAQ here.
-
In Lab Rat you’ll be given hints to ensure you get through the whole story in the time allotted (unless you loudly demand otherwise). As long as you trust us to pilot your experience, you’ll have an amazing time! Beginners and enthusiast alike enjoy Lab Rat.
-
Lab Rat has a 4-player booking minimum, meaning you are welcome to come as a team of 2-3, but you’ll pay for the minimum of 4 players. Just know that Lab Rat is more of a challenge for smaller groups—we think 4-8 participants is ideal.
-
Lab Rat is about 75 minutes top to bottom. There are 60 minutes of game play. The other 10-15 minutes account for some other fun stuff!
-
The minimum age to play Lab Rat is 8 years old. We will turn away groups with younger players. All minors (players under the age of 18) must be accompanied by at least 1 adult.
If a group of minors comes to play, there must be 1 adult present per every 5 minors. For example, if there are up to 5 minors, 1 adult must attend the experience. If there are 6 or more minors, 2 adults must attend the experience.
(Babies may join their parents so long as they remain in a hands-free carrier for the whole experience.)
-
None of our games have horror elements. Any ‘intense’ moments in Lab Rat are played for laughs. There is no gore, serious jump scares, or complete darkness.
Also, you are never actually locked in. You can leave at any time through the clearly marked emergency exits.
-
Lab Rat requires participants to stand for extended periods of time.
Some puzzles require physical mobility, but nothing a team of 2 hasn’t been able to handle.
-
All attendees must be comfortable with standing for extended periods of time, moments of darkness, and bright changing lights.
Guests with sensory limitations may encounter moments of overstimulation.
Most chair users and guests with mobility aids can navigate Lab Rat*. The narrowest passage is 28” wide, which may be too narrow for some Full-Size/Motorized Power chairs. Please note that chair users will need a teammate’s help to reach elements of games and puzzles. There is only one narrow section in the experience that cannot be physically accessed via wheelchair, though chair users can still participate in all puzzle solving.
If a member of your party will be playing in a wheelchair, please reach out in advance to ensure that you and your host is prepared. This is crucial as there are 2 different routes to the Lab Rat entrance, each with its own drawbacks.
