Hatch is an LA-based immersive experience and gaming company.

  • We’re a one-stop shop. Our award-winning escape rooms were built entirely in-house—that means every page of script, every line of code, every piece of tech, every bit of pre-viz, every second of filmed media, every sound effect, every prop, and every puzzle.

  • We run our own experiences. For eight years, we’ve been independently operating multiple critically and commercially successful immersive experiences. So you can trust we’ll be planning staffing, maintenance, merchandise, and general logistics from day one of the concept phase.

  • We know story. Like, really know it. Plenty of people claim to be able to provide a meaningful narrative, but we’re the only company with a New York Times bestselling novelist on staff.

Who the hell do we think we are?

our co-founders

Terry Pettigrew-Rolapp

is a writer, designer, graphic artist, 3D modeler, composer, data analyst, electrical engineer, and multi-platform coder. Over the past few decades, he’s led several companies and raised three foster teenagers to adulthood.

Tommy Wallach

is the author of five novels, including We All Looked Up, which spent over six months on the New York Times bestseller list. He also co-created Unspeakable: The Murder of JonBenet Ramsey, forthcoming on Paramount+.

Good God, What HAVE WE DONE?

Lab Rat casts players as test subjects in a laboratory run by a giant rat doctoral student, utilizing tricks of scale in set design and filmed sequences to deliver a humorous Honey, I Shrunk The Kids experience.

In 2018, Lab Rat was ranked the 8th best escape room in the world (TERPECA) and the best escape room in Los Angeles (LA Magazine).

Mother of Frankenstein is a groundbreaking 15-hour narrative puzzle game based on the life of Mary Shelley.

Lauded by Neil Gaiman and Margaret Atwood, Mother of Frankenstein was published by Arcane Wonders and sold in every Barnes & Noble in the US.

The Ladder tracks the players’ fifty-year career at a corrupt pharmaceutical company in Omaha, Nebraska, beginning in the 1950s mailroom (presented in glorious black-and-white) and culminating in the 1990s corner office.

The Ladder won the 2025 THEA for Limited Budget Immersive Gaming, as well as No Proscenium’s Audience Choice Award (Immie).

Yeah, but can you do branded?

We were recently hired by HYUNDAI to design and build an escape room that could be solved entirely utilizing features of the new IONIQ 9. Three YouTuber families were then filmed playing through the room, and the resultant footage was cut into a commercial.

In under a month, we designed and constructed the entire experience, including dozens of custom props (like the six interactive screens players had to plug in to the car’s USB ports), a garage set with LED strips embedded into the walls (and a functional garage door), and nearly half an hour of joy-inducing puzzles.

HATCH specializes in marketing and activations that use gamification and collaboration to increase brand awareness without making people feel they’re being sold something.
