OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT CONNECTED/ IMMERSIVE STORYTELLING

THE NEST is an intimate live experience combining elements of immersive theater, video games, and escape rooms. Equipped with only a flashlight and cassette deck, you'll explore the winding corridors of a storage unit once owned by a woman named Josie. By examining her personal effects and listening to the audio diary she left behind, you'll slowly piece together the surreal, heartbreaking, and beautiful narrative of Josie's life...and in so doing, come to realize just how precious memories are.

FAQ

These FAQs apply to The Nest. Please find company-wide FAQs here.

  • Not in the traditional sense, no. The Nest contains some simple puzzles, but the end goal is not to “escape a room.” This is an immersive theater experience. We suggest that guests take their time and soak up as much of story as possible.

  • In traditional theater, you're a passive observer, watching a story unfold on a stage. In immersive theater, you're in the middle of the story and are free to explore the environment around you. Make choices, engage with your surroundings - it will all affect the outcome of your experience. It's kind of like being a character in a movie or video game.

  • Nope! You just need to explore your surroundings, you don’t need to be anyone but yourself.

  • This experience was designed for 1 or 2 people, but we now allow groups up to 4 so that different size groups can experience it together.

We think 2 guests is the ideal number, given the constraints of the space. Larger groups might have to take turns going through certain areas, or else be very comfortable cuddling.

You may also attend alone and you will never be paired with a stranger. We don’t open the experience up to more than 4 because the intimacy of the space and nature of the experience simply doesn’t allow for more than 4 folks to experience the story comfortably or safely. Simply put: you won’t all fit in there.

  • Nah, not in a horror way. There’s no blood, axe murderers, or actors jumping out to scare you. However, the room is dark and mysterious — you may have to navigate small spaces, be alone in unfamiliar spaces, and at times experience moments of complete darkness. The story itself is not scary, but involves adult themes such as suffering and the loss of a loved one.

  • Including check-in, a short wait time, and the experience itself, plan to spend about 90 minutes at The Nest.

  • Yes, due to adult themes (please see content warnings above), The Nest is an 18+ experience. In an event where a guest would be 14 to 17 years old, they must be accompanied by a guardian over 18. Children under 14 will not be admitted into The Nest. (Babies may join their parents so long as they remain in a hands-free carrier for the whole experience. Please note that this may inhibit your ability to access some of The Nest's more difficult-to-access nooks and crannies.)

  • No, but please dress for comfort and mobility. Someone in your group should be able to duck and crawl. Flat, close-toed shoes are best.

  • Not really. Think of this production more like a remake or a director's cut. It’s been improved in many aspects of the show - the location, the set design, the story, and more - to create the version the directors always wanted to make.

  • CONTENT WARNINGS (spoilers): The Nest contains plot points involving miscarriage, divorce, terminal illness, and other highly emotional subject matter. Guests who are not looking to experience such content should not attend.

  • Unfortunately, due to our location in a pre-ADA building, The Nest is not accessible to wheelchair users. In addition, it is not recommended for audience members who are not comfortable with walking, ducking, navigating small spaces, standing for extended periods of time, moments of complete darkness, being alone, or for those who are affected by claustrophobia. Should you be sensitive to haze and fog effects, you may not want to go through The Nest, as haze is used throughout.

Please reach out to bookings@hatchescapes.com for inquiries about ADA accommodations.
